Position Summary
This position reports to the Records Management supervisor and assists the Airport Police Department (APD) with its data discovery process primarily involving body-worn cameras, in-squad cameras, and Police Operations Center (POC) cameras. In this position you will respond to requests for data from the public, media, prosecuting and defense attorneys, insurance companies, etc.; reviews, redacts, and releases video/audio files; and manages digital file storage to ensure compliance with adopted records retention schedule.Hours/Schedule: Mondays - Fridays, DaysIdeal Candidate: Will have applicable knowledge of laws and procedures related to digital data requests along with experience working in a law enforcement environment or the strong desire to do so. Comfortable working with and managing a variety of digital data to include body-worn camera and squad video, audio files and photographs. Process non-digital data requests as needed.
Respond to requests from the public, media, attorneys, insurance companies, other law enforcement agencies and within the organization.
Adhere to requirements for release of data as outlined in the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA).
Coordinate collection of requested digital data, which may include Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), body camera, squad video, Police Operations Center (POC) video and photographs.
Provide redaction of digital data as required by Minnesota Statutes.
Download digital evidence from different sources and upload (share) information in accordance with department policies and Minnesota Statutes.
Manage digital storage, retention, and destruction of digital data files.
Ensure destruction of digital data in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, court dispositions and department records retention schedule.
Become subject matter expert in use of digital evidence software.
Train officers and other personnel in proper downloading and categorizing of digital data.
Work in conjunction with the department’s property and evidence coordinator to fulfill discovery requests for attorneys.
Provide expert courtroom testimony as required.
Prepare reports and analysis of video system use.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues associated with the management of digital data.
Update procedures, processes and policies governing digital data and records release.
Improve practices and procedures to ensure optimal efficiency.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information obtained or reviewed.
Provide excellent and timely customer support.
Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSHigh School diploma or equivalent.
Two or more years of Video Technician experience within a law enforcement agency or setting. - OR- Two years of post-secondary education in law enforcement, criminal justice, criminology, or related area AND one year or more of recent Video Technician experience within a law enforcement agency or setting.
Clear and articulate written and oral communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Maintain confidential information in accordance with legal requirements and internal policies.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Available for occasional call back/overtime.
Valid, state-issued driver’s license.
Successful completion of a MAC APD background check.

Experience working with body-worn camera and in-squad camera systems.
Experience responding to data requests in accordance with the Minnesota Data Practices Act.
Video redaction software experience.
Experience providing court testimony.
