Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $16.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application) This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health & Human ServicesDSOHFWalter B. Jones ADATC. This position is responsible for facilitating Peer Support groups and 1:1 per support interventions for individual patients as requested by the treatment team and discharge transportation when needed and appropriate as determined by the Treatment Team. The individual in this position serves as members of the patient's Treatment Team and a variety of other hospital committees and work groups as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
[NOTE: Qualified applicants must meet and CLEARLY reflect on their application training and experience and all knowledge, skills, abilities and any experience or competencies specified in the supplemental question(s) to be considered. "See Resume" is not acceptable to list work history. ] Must be Certified as Peer Support Specialist in North Carolina
Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and abilities in providing peer support interventions including advocacy, skill building groups, recovery networking, developing recovery resources, and assisting with transition from in-patient treatment. To do so, they must have a thorough understanding of both addiction and recovery processes, along with a variety of community-based resources
Demonstrated ability to establish therapeutic relationships, rapport with co-workers, and interdisciplinary teamwork
Ability to effectively communicate both in verbal and written format is necessary
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience working with individuals who are undergoing treatment for substance use disorders, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
