Quality Assurance InspectorJob DescriptionSummary/Objective:The Quality Assurance Inspector improve overall product quality by working closely with all EdgeWater team members to drive quality at the source, and minimize resources required to achieve manufacturing goals with optimal quality levels.Essential Functions: This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this position. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice. The essential functions of this position includes:Perform in-process quality checks. Document and track results.
Lead initiatives to reduce quality defects, and material and labor variance associated with rework.
Communicate nonconformities to line personnel, Supervisors, and Managers. Work with team to identify root cause of issues and assist with leading action to resolve.
Document and facilitate employee training for work instructions, quality standards, inspection methods, boundary samples, poke yoke solutions, best practices, and other quality related initiatives.
Coach/ Mentor employees in Safety related procedures and best practices.
Assure parts are being trimmed/cut to the purchase order requirements.
Perform Pre & Post capping audits to assure critical check points are within spec.
Must follow proper procedures in the safe handling of hazardous wastes, which may be generated during the manufacturing process.
Record defects as per EdgeWater Power Boats standards
Coordinate with area supervisor regarding results of inspections
Assist with root cause analysis regarding defects
Analyze data in order to identify defect trends
Perform other related duties as needed

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilitiesTravel: No travel is anticipated for this positionOther Requirements: Self-starter, high-energy individual who can work effectively with little supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong desire to focus on continuous improvement opportunities and work diligently to implement.
Willingness to:
Learn inspection processes related to all EdgeWater manufacturing departments
Work in an environment with fiberglass and dust particles

Position requires standing for 10+hr shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:This position occasionally works in an office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, is required to talk; hear; sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; to routinely lift up to 10 pounds and occasional lift up to 20 pounds
This position works in a production environment that requires the use of PPE, is non-climate controlled (above 90 or below 20 ambient degrees), and may include exposure to fumes/airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals

Education and Experience: Education: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prefer college level coursework.
Experience: 1-2 years’ boat manufacturing experience
Must be able to read build documentation and process procedures
PC based software exp helpful. (Excel, Word)
Understanding of principles of Lean Manufacturing
