5 Technical Buyer3.5.1 Act as the key resource for component, manufacturer, and supplier information. Freely share needed information with colleagues and interested parties. Investigate to determine the suitability of components based on the customer provided information. Prevent the introduction of counterfeit and unapproved parts.3.5.2 Maintain our ERP Product Master, with a focus on Engine-Related Components. Assure all Product profiles within our ERP item master are properly set up to closely control all pricing, accounting and allocation functions, including Entities, Groups, General Ledger (G/L) codes.3.5.3 Monitor and review stock levels, Service Work Orders, Sales Orders and Purchase Requests to assess demand and procurement actions required.3.5.4 Identify, select, evaluate and monitor key suppliers based on commodity type and MSHS Group usage.3.5.5 Maintain regular communication, and development relationships with key suppliers.3.5.6 Obtain quotes from approved suppliers. Negotiate preferred pricing, including volume discounts, etc. to the best advantage of the MSHS group and customers.3.5.7 Perform analyses and develop blanket orders, long term agreements, and other strategies to maximize efficiency.3.5.8 Receive and acknowledge all purchase requests. Review current stock, open orders and vendor status to assure the purchase is warranted. Contact requester immediately to reconcile any anomalies. Check each new vendor creation request. Strive to use current, preferred suppliers, for Commercially Available Off the Shelf (COTS) items.3.5.9 Prepare a purchase order with the approved supplier for those Sales Order items not yet in MSHS Group stock. Make sure each line item is allocated accordingly. Where warranted, strategically consolidate requests into scheduled “multi-orders” to minimize freight and processing costs. Gather, maintain and apply information pertaining to freight providers and service levels to the best advantage of the MSHS Group and our clients. Obtain approval for the new purchase order in accordance with the limits on the published Delegation of Authority Table.3.5.10 Assure the supplier provides adequate order confirmation. Reconcile any differences between the Purchase Order and the confirmation. Update Purchase Order with current cost and delivery, as warranted.3.5.11 Maintain regular contact with the supplier to assure on time delivery. Update due dates and promise dates accordingly. Communicate with requesters3.5.12 Provide customs clearance instructions to the Logistics Department for inbound freight.3.5.13 Investigate when purchase order receipts do not conform to purchase order conditions. (incorrect quantities, part numbers, configurations, conditions, unit price, quality, etc.) Including following up with the requester and the vendor, and initiated a Nonconformity Report as warranted.3.5.14 Review and approve receiving reports and supplier invoices daily.3.5.15 Consciously promote good, cooperative relations with all team members to assure efficient interaction of processes.3.5.16 Provide guidance, train and mentor supply chain and other team members in key aspects of the supply chain process.
