The Global Head of Process Controlled Transportation (PCT) will set the global standards and processes for the transportation and storage of all pharmaceutical product, to product label temperature requirements, as defined by GDP.
What you'll do:
Work with Logistics Quality to develop and implement Global Logistics controlled transportation and storage policies, guidelines and strategies that cover primary and secondary transportation lanes, as well as warehousing, and that align with and supports the organisation's vision, current and long-term business objectives.
You’ll be accountable for ’s PCT Processes in primary and secondary distribution and logistics.
Define commercial and operating delivery structure for all aspects of PCT logistics within a large and complex environment, ensuring full integration of supply services and supporting systems and technology.
Qualification of temperature protection solutions, from containers to small parcels, often through outsourced suppliers or in collaboration with our Logistics Service Providers.
Ownership of all in-transit temperature failures and investigation of temperature excursions on distribution lanes, includes managing 3rd party investigations, driving corrective and preventative actions and continuous process improvements.
Make recommendations to the Leadership team on optimal product routing, packaging solutions and carriers to ensure compliance with temperature-control requirements
Manage in-transit temperature monitoring global budget and the suppliers of temperature monitoring solutions.
Conduct due diligence activity for external parties, e.g. 3rd party Packaging Qualification Testing Labs.
Contribute to the development of wide policy and process within the Global Logistics area, partnering with Global Supply Chain and Global Logistics leadership to provide input into strategic direction of the function.
Define and monitor performance targets within own area, setting key performance indicators, measuring progress and activity taking remedial action to deliver against agreed service standards.
Identify and deliver improvements in process quality and efficiency, deriving both enhancements within the AZ structure and via external suppliers
Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice and Safety Health and Environment and ensures regulatory compliance
Role model the leadership capabilities and support senior employees to motivate and empower staff to deliver outstanding performance and customer service
Ensure vital risk assessments and business continuity plans are in place to assure the supply of products to the customers
Essential skills and experience:
Graduate degree in Engineering/Sciences or equivalent
Deep experience in a logistics and/or manufacturing environment, preferably in biopharma or related regulated industry
Strong understanding and experience in qualification and validation life-cycle activities and validation compliance
Expert in GDP requirements and regulatory bodies interpretation of these requirements
Advanced commercial acumen and ability to influence and direct stakeholder decision-making at senior levels
Proven track record to inspire change globally within a diverse and matrix organisational environment
Strong understanding and experience in temperature-controlled transport, packaging and monitoring solutions qualification, process validation and temperature-controlled logistics industry standards
Experience in supplying solutions and services either as a specialist solutions provider or as a Logistics Services Provider for temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products
