The Assistant Vice-President (AVP) of Communications Operations and Business Management is a key member of 's Communications team within the Business and Corporate Communications group of the Global Public Affairs organization. Global Public Affairs seeks to enhance and protect the reputation of , its businesses and the brand through direct and indirect communication with 's various stakeholders. Working with the Senior Manager, Communications Operations and Business Management, the AVP will help build and implement business management capabilities for the Business and Corporate Communications group, including budget, governance, staffing, technology, impact and insights, and vendor management framework. The AVP will collaborate with communications teams to determine and develop resource needs which align to business priorities.
In partnership with the Senior Manager of Communications Operations and Business Management, maintain oversight into all areas within the Communications Operations and Business Management team
Assist in developing a new budget for the Business and Corporate Communications group
Work closely with communications teams to track project expenses and staffing levels, and proactively make recommendations on best use of funding resources
Develop a new framework for technology needs across the group and determine effective funding mechanisms; maximize spending and work with teams to eliminate redundancies
Assist in the evaluation of existing vendor relationships and determine recommendations on improvements to better leverage resources based on group needs
Identify key areas of opportunities and gaps in funding which impact staffing, technology and vendor support
Establish reporting and analysis in partnership with Finance, Technology, Vendor Procurement and other areas to help establish business management practices
Develop best practices and new governance processes for Business and Corporate Communications at the group-level, including quarterly MCA management
Together with the Senior Manager of Impacts and Insights, develop new ways to measure impact across the Business and Corporate Communications group
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in business management, communications or other related field
Minimum of 4 years of experience in communications or marketing and knowledge of business management, preferably with a large and complex organization
A self-starter and problem-solver who can navigate a large organization
A team player who will implement initiatives effectively and motivate others to carry out their work
Strong communications (written, verbal and interpersonal) skills, including tact, diplomacy, and ability to interact senior executives
Integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive professional attitude
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Experience or demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment within a heavily matrixed organization
Track record of success in delivering high quality work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
