The Modern Languages Department is currently seeking applicants for SPA 102 (Elementary Spanish II) for online delivery over the Spring 2022 semester (January 26-May 13, 2022). Salary is on a per-course basis and the contract is contingent upon enrollment numbers. Please note, the college is currently registered as an employer in NY, NJ, OH, UT and CA (we can only take applicants from these states at this time)
COURSE DESCRIPTION SPA 102 Elementary Spanish 2 }3 credit hours A study of Spanish language at the elementary level in terms of the three modes of communication: Interpersonal, Presentational (speaking, writing), and Interpretive (listening, reading). Topics: Vacations, shopping, daily life and routines, food. Grammar: ser/estar, direct objects, indirect objects, demonstrative adjectives and pronouns, reflexive verbs, indefinite and negative words, gustar, preterite (regular, stem-changing, ser and ir), comparatives and superlatives. Slow paced: 4 chapters per semester. Placement in course 102: Credit for college level Elementary Language I study, or 3-4 years of high school language study, with an average of 80% or above. Passing grade in 101. Language of instruction is Spanish. SLO: CM. Modality: face-to-face, hybrid, online. Offered every semester. (UG)
Master's degree in the language of instruction, linguistics, or literature.
Prior College level teaching experience.
Prior online teaching experience; online credentialing preferred. Native or near-native fluency in both English and SPANISH.

Minimum Responsibilities include:
Providing instruction for assigned courses, which includes preparation for in-class or online content, evaluation of student work, adherence to the departmentally approved curriculum, holding regular office hours, course-specific details as enumerated in departmentally approved syllabi, creation of a course calendar and learning management system (Blackboard Ultra).
Observation, support, and enforcement of the department's curricular program and policies.
Observation, support and enforcement of standard institutional policies.
Fostering an environment of learning, free from prejudice and bias, that is inclusive, and respectful to matriculated students, both traditional and adult learners.
Fostering an environment of professional engagement conducive to cooperation and collaboration.
Coordination with department faculty members, adherence to departmentally sanctioned curricular policies and programmatic requirements, and collaborative engagement with department faculty to align course content and policies with established curricular requirements.
Submission of attendance rosters, grade reports, and course syllabi to senior faculty and the registrar.
Adhering to course outlines articulated to students and prompt communication to students if minor deviations of content and format requirements outlined in syllabi must take place during the course of a semester
Regular communication with students with regard to: task planning, content, and group/individual support.
Salary is determined on a by-course basis and commensurate with experience, degree attainment, and course load requirements. Salary is on a per-course basis and the contract is contingent upon enrollment numbers.
